Kalkan is situated at the foothills of the Taurus Mountains which have an influence on its weather giving it the climate that is typical of the Southern Mediterranean.

The tourist season starts in May. This tends to be a sunny month but with cooler evenings when a sweater would be advisable especially if you’re going to eat in the open air and roof top restaurants in Kalkan. Some of the good restaurants have covered outdoor areas so the temperature stays comfortable. Daytime temperatures will generally reach highs of around 28C or 82F The average number of hours of sunshine is 13 hours per day. Swimming in pools tends to be a little bracing. The temperature of the sea is around 20C or 68F so fairly warm.

By June the temperature can range from around 20C to 28C and even up to 32C. At night this drops to around 20C or 68F. The sea temperature is around 23C or 73F. You will have an average of 13hrs sunshine daily. 

July is hot, with highs of around 35C and sometimes above 40C. Humidity can reach 60% or more. By now, the heaters in some restaurants are replaced with fans that spray a fine mist of cooling water. Sea temperatures are around 26C or 79F…beautiful!

August is hot hot hot hot, often slightly warmer than July.

By September the temperature will reach highs of around 31/32C or 88/90F  with around 11 hours of sunshine per day, reducing as the month moves on. The temperature of the sea is a around 26C or 79F. 

October is a great time to visit. You will see highs of around 27/28C or 81F and at night the temperature can drop to around 17C or 63F. The sun sets around 6pm so you will enjoy 10 hours of sunshine per day. The evenings can sometimes get cooler. 

Autumn is a very brief affair, as is spring, and it generally only lasts for a transitional period in the month of November. This month is still quite warm, although evenings are certainly colder, dropping to 7°C, and there is a higher chance of rain. The average temperature is around 18°C, and you will find that most tourist attractions and restaurants are closed during this time. Despite that fact, if you want to experience more in the way of authenticity, then autumn is a great time to visit and explore in more comfortable conditions.
